EARTH
Question: "What is the age of the earth? How old is the earth?"

Answer: Given the fact that, according to the Bible, Adam was created on the sixth day of our planet’s existence, we can determine a Biblically-based, approximate age for the earth by looking at the chronological details of the human race. This of course assumes that the Genesis account is accurate, that the six days of creation described in Genesis were literal 24-hour periods, and that there were no ambiguous chronological gaps.

The genealogies listed in Genesis chapters five and eleven provide the age at which Adam and his descendants each begot the next generation in a successive ancestral line from Adam to Abraham. By determining where Abraham fits into history chronologically and by adding up the ages provided in Genesis chapters five and eleven, it becomes apparent that the Bible teaches the earth to be about 6,000 years old, give or take a few hundred years.

What about the popular age of about 4.6 billion years accepted by most scientists today and taught in the vast majority of our academic institutions? This age is primarily derived from two dating techniques: radiometric dating and the geologic timescale. Scientists who advocate the younger age of about 6,000 years insist that radiometric dating is flawed in that it is founded upon a series of faulty assumptions while the geologic timescale is flawed in that it employs circular reasoning [see our articles on radiometric dating and the geologic timescale]. Moreover, they point to the debunking of old-earth myths, like the popular misconception that it takes long periods of time for stratification, fossilization and the formation of diamonds, coal, oil, stalactites, stalagmites, etc, to occur. Finally, young-earth advocates present positive evidence for a young age for the earth in place of the old-earth evidences which they debunk [see our article on evidences for a young earth]. Young-earth scientists acknowledge that they are in the minority today but insist that their ranks will swell over time as more and more scientists reexamine the evidence and take a closer look at the currently accepted old-earth paradigm.

Ultimately, the age of the earth cannot be proven. Whether 6,000 years or 4.6 billion years - both viewpoints (and everything in between) rests on faith and assumptions. Those who hold to 4.6 billion years trust that methods such as radiometric dating are reliable, and that nothing has occurred in history that may have disrupted the normal decay of radio-isotopes. Those who hold to 6,000 years trust that the Bible is true, and that other factors explain the “apparent” age of the earth, such as the global flood, or God creating the universe in a state that “appears” to give it an very long age. As an example, God created Adam and Eve as fully-grown adult human beings. If a doctor were to have examined Adam and Eve on the day of their creation, the doctor would have estimated their age at 20 years (or whatever age they appeared to be) - when, in fact, Adam and Eve were less than one day old. Whatever the case, there is always good reason to trust the Word of God over the words of atheistic scientists with an evolutionary agenda.
Question: "Were Adam and Eve saved? How many children did Adam and Eve have? When were Adam and Eve created?"

Were Adam and Eve saved? The Bible does not specifically tell us whether Adam and Eve were saved. Adam and Eve were the only two human beings who knew about God before they became tainted with sin. As a result, they likely still knew God better after their Fall than any of us do today. Adam and Eve most definitely believed in and depended God. God continued to talk with Adam and Eve and provide for them after the Fall. Adam and Eve knew of God’s promise that He would provide a Savior (Genesis 3:15). God made a garments of skin for Adam and Eve after the Fall (Genesis 3:21). Many scholars understand this as the first animal sacrifice, foreshadowing the eventual death of Christ on the cross for the sins of the world. As a result of these facts, it would seem that Adam and Eve were "saved" and did indeed go to Heaven / Paradise when they died.

How many children did Adam and Eve have? The Bible does not give us a specific number. Adam and Eve had Cain (Genesis 4:1), Abel (Genesis 4:2), Seth (Genesis 4:25), and many other sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4). With likely hundreds of years of child-bearing capability, Adam and Eve likely had 50+ children in their lifetime.

When were Adam and Eve created? If Old Testament history and the ages in Genesis chapter 5 are traced, Adam and Eve were likely created in approximately 4000 B.C.This answer gives us much needed info for dating the earth!

Were Adam and Eve cavemen? Genesis chapter 3 records Adam and Eve having a fully intelligent conversation with God. Adam and Eve were surely "primitive" in their understand of many concepts, but they were not "ape-like" or intellectually deficient by any means. Adam and Eve were the most perfect human beings in the history of the world.

How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden before they sinned? The Bible does not explicitly tell us how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden before they sinned. It seems as if they were in the Garden for a short amount of time, possible as little as a day or two. Adam and Eve did not conceive any children until after the Fall (Genesis 4:1-2), so it is highly unlikely they were in the Garden for very long.

Did Adam and Eve have belly-buttons / navels? A belly-button is formed by the umbilical cord that connects a baby in the womb to its mother. Adam and Eve were created directly by God, and did not go through the normal birthing process. So, Adam and Eve would not have had belly buttons.
Mark 10:6 (King James Version)
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

Genesis Chapter 1 is an overview of Creation Days 1-7 (24hours in a day). Chapter 2 gives us more details about the sixth day because that's when Man was made. Now if there were Millions or Billions of years between the days or a Gap (Which are ALL false ideas) then Adam and Eve were not made from the beginning. Now at this point You have to made a choice, are you going to believe Man or are you going to believe God and his Word?I Choose Jesus(God)/God's Word! Jesus said so Himself from his own mouth that he made them (Adam & Eve) from the beginning(on the sixth day). There are many more scriptures to back up this point/issue but I think this one scripture in Mark from Jesus himself makes the point clear!
Question: "Why did God create such a vast universe and other planets if there is only life on earth?"

Answer: Psalm 19:1 says that "the heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork." Everything that God has made, be it you and me, or wildlife, or angels, or stars and planets, have been created for His glory. When I see a breathtaking view of the Milky Way or peer at Saturn through a telescope, I am amazed at the wonders of God!

David wrote in Psalm 8:3, "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained." When we see the vast number of stars, then read that scientists have discovered thousands upon thousands of galaxies, each containing millions of stars, we should be stand in reverent fear of a God so immense to make all that and call it the work of His fingers! Furthermore, Psalm 147:4 tells us that "He counts the number of the stars, He calls them all by name." It is impossible for mankind to know how many stars there are, not to mention the *name* of every star!

To answer your specific questions: Space and planets were created for God's glory. The existence of planets outside our solar system is still somewhat hypothetical, some "discoveries" have turned out to be erroneous and many are unverified, but if there are extra-solar system planets then these too were created for the glory of God. A constantly expanding universe is yet another conjecture that has yet to be proven. I don't think that its expansion is necessary to keep us from leaving since we've only traveled a mere 240,000 miles away to the moon, and that was only a total of 21 men (counting the men in each command module and the three on Apollo 13) for a few days each during a very short decade in mankind's long history. The next star farther than the sun is over 4 light-years away and that isn't even a measurable fraction of the size of the known universe, expanding or not. The Lord will return long before man will ever travel beyond our tiny solar system.

"Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together" (Isaiah 48:13).
